Things to consider when buying gloves for cross-country skiing

Glove guide

Will you train countless of hours on the track or are you going on a one-day tour with thermos and coffee? Are you frozen of your hands or generally warm? These are just a few aspects to consider when choosing gloves.

Different conditions, different needs

If you need a pair of gloves that should be suitable both for single plus degrees but also for several minuses, we recommend that you aim for a lined five-finger glove. One example is Ratio Gold, Legend Thermo, Coach, Solid Thermo or Touring. These gloves are also suitable for those who are going on occasional enjoyable mountain trips.
If you are going to train a lot during much of the winter, we recommend our "Race and Training" range where you will find both unlined and lined race gloves.

Hands are unique

Because our hands are unique, we also have models for both the wider and narrower hand. If you have a wider hand, we recommend our models with standard width. For example, Legend, Legend Thermo, Legend Thermo Gold, Solid etc. If you have a narrower hand or like a very tight fit, take a closer look at our Slim products. They are called Legend Slim, Legend Thermo Slim or Coach Slim.

It can be good to wear a pair of thin racing gloves at the milder temperatures or at the occasional minus and then supplement with a lined five-finger glove or a mitten for the colder days.

Real leather or synthetic leather?

You also need to consider whether you prefer real leather or the more practical synthetic leather Clarino®. The advantage of real leather is that it is an incredible comfort, feeling and an unbeatable grip on the rod. The advantage of synthetic leather is that it is easier to care of. You can wash synthetic leather in the machine with other training clothes and let dry quickly on elements or in drying cabinets. Real leather need to be washed by hand and require a little more care and thought for them to last a long time. Read more about how to take care of your gloves here.
